Quilts From Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Giveaway

Hi everyone! Can you believe it is time for another magazine giveaway? It is time for "Quilts from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks" to hit newsstands!

Remember this block?
"All Buttoned Up", Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Volume 5

I loved how it looked when arranged vertically in columns - a great baby or kid quilt! Or it could be great as a Quilt of Valor.

For this Quiltmaker issue, I alternated those vertical rows with some simple applique flowers!

Although I designed this quilt, I've been up to my ears in deadlines, so Quiltmaker arranged to have it pieced and sewn beautifully by Peg Spradlin. Thanks, Peg!

There are several ways to enter and win a copy of the magazine.

  1. First, you can leave a comment on this post telling everyone what you are planning to sew this month! (The deadline to enter on this blog is Thursday, September 6th at midnight.)
  2. Second, you can visit Quiltmaker's blog Quilty Pleasures tomorrow, September 4th. (This link won't be active until then.) They are giving away a ton of magazines and also have links to every designer participating in the giveaway!
  3. And third, you can like and leave a comment on my facebook page. If you tell me what your favorite of my patterns is (listed in the left sidebar of this blog) I'll throw a copy in if you are the winner!  Again, the deadline to enter on facebook is Thursday, September 6th, at midnight.

That's it!  Good luck and happy sewing!
Amanda

I am looking for an English Paper Piecing Project to work on this month. I think I need something smaller than a queen size quilt, so that I can finish it in a reasonable amount of time. I am always in search of EPP projects. It just doesn't seem like there are enough EPP patterns and projects available.

Right now I'm working on the Quilting Gallery Quilt Along so that's one thing I'm working on this month. (I have a few of my blocks that I need to attempt to fix or remake them again sadly)

After that I recently got a new pattern for jeans from a blog for my 6 month old Granddaughter. I quickly made the first pair without finishing the waist to see how well they fit. They're perfect and so quick to make because you use old jeans and the bottom leg hems are used from the recycled jeans. Super fast to make but the day after I did this first test I woke the next day and did something to my knee and since then have been unable to walk or put pressure on my left leg so I've still not done much at all, especially sewing. :( Finally after two weeks of hobbling around my house using a wheeled walker I am feeling better and am crossing my fingers that it continues so I can start getting things done again. What a nightmare! I want to make more pants like this and add cute embroideries and other extra touches to each pair and will use cotton fabrics and maybe some knits to test those too.

And I just ordered fabric to make a tablet something for hubby's table that sits out while not being protected. It worries me that something might happen to it now that we've got three dogs running around our house and one of them chews everything as he is just a puppy.

Plus I'm starting to search for cute Halloween outfits to make for my 6 month old Granddaughter too even though she won't be trick or treating much at her age. Who can resist seeing an adorable baby in a cute costume though?

Thank you Amanda. I should have known after posting over at the Quiltmaker blog when asked to comment which is our favorite quilt that I had chosen yours without realizing it was made by you. I have always loved your work.

Apparently this month I can Do All The Things!

I signed up for a Halloween swap in one of the two forums I haunt. In the other, I committed to making a basket block for a quilt we're making for a friend's housewarming.

I'm hosting this month's Die Cutter's Guild meeting, so I'm making this month's BOM block AND the mini project.

Plus, I'm teaching/designing a mini row quilt (ROM) at my LQS, so I need to get September's row figured out, sewn and write the instructions.

I think I just realized why my UFO pile never gets any smaller. ;-)

I went to FB and "LIKED" you. Looking forward to reading about things on FB. If I would happen to win, you have so many amazing patterns, but Beflowered looked interesting to me and maybe I could use up some of my stash. Thanks

I love the addition of the flowers on your quilt.
This month I am trying to get two small tote bags finished to put the little fabric paper dolls and dress' I made for my granddaughter and her bestfriend, finish sandwiching and machine quilting a quilt for my son-in-law and get as many projects I can to the stage of handwork. Then, take a road trip to purchase a new home, travel back here, pack up 5 bedroom house, say good-bye to all my quilting friends, daughter and family and head back to my hometown. Praying that the grandkids don't get to upset!

This month, before I get started on seasonal gift-making, I am making doll's cradle bedding, which includes mattress, pillow, pillowcase and quilt, for donation. The bedding gets paired with cradles that have been hand-crafted by another organization, and my quilt guild is asking members to make the bedding. Since I have only grandsons, it's a blast to make the girly things!

Quilts From Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Giveaway

28

Amanda
