Black Friday Sale - Sunflower Row!

Happy Cyber-Monday!  Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!
Last but not least of my specials is Sunflower Row.  It takes 12 fat quarters to make the blossoms on this quilt and it hung in both the Blend Fabrics and United Notions booths at Market.  Like the other new quilts, it features my Bella line for Blend Fabrics.  You can purchase it just until tomorrow (Tuesday) morning over in my Craftsy shop!

Happy sewing everyone!

Black Friday Sale - Palace Doors!

Next up is Palace Doors.  It will be available in my Craftsy shop until sometime tomorrow (Monday) morning.  This is a lap sized quilt, but directions to modify measurements to a wall hanging are also included.  This quilt features simple piecing, with just a bit of applique to add sophistication.  It is great for featuring prints to their best advantage!  I chose to use the greens and seaglass colors from my Bella line for Blend Fabrics.

Black Friday Sale - Fizz!

And now its Fizz's turn!  Fizz is a really fun quilt to make.  It uses the seaglass color story of my Bella line for Blend Fabrics. It works with both modern and traditional prints and would be great featuring cuddle bubbles too!  Since it is based off of one block, you can make it in any size.  You can purchase it just for today in my Craftsy shop.

Black Friday Sale - Harlequin!

Hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving!
Just for today, I'm selling Harlequin over in my Craftsy shop!  This is a deceptively easy pattern featuring strip piecing - it is REALLY fun to make!  The fabrics are from my Bella line for Blend Fabrics that is currently on the market.  I used mostly pinks but there is a little aqua and green snuck in.

Happy sewing!

Black Friday Sneak Peek

Hi everyone.  I've had lots of request for pdfs of my new patterns: Harlequin, Palace Doors, Fizz, and Sunflower Row.  They all feature my Bella line for Blend Fabrics.  I do have some of my patterns available as pdfs, but really they are just 6 original patterns in the line.  This is because I like to keep my patterns available exclusively in independent quilt shops.  Still, I know some of you only buy pdf patterns.

I've decided to have a Black Friday sale of my new patterns.  Each day, starting on Friday, I will post one of the new patterns to my Crafsy shop sometime in the middle of the morning.  This pattern will remain there approximately 24 hours until I replace it with the next pattern.  The sale will end on Monday at midnight.  After that you will still be able to get the original 6 patterns in my line in pdf form, but the new ones will only be available in print.

Sounds good?  I hope so....

Hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving with friends and family!

Hexagons!

My morning was made brighter this morning when I saw this runner Debby Kratovil made with my Bella collection for Blend Fabrics!

Isn't it lovely? I love the fussy-cut medallions! And that isn't all she has made... you can see more eye candy on her blog.

 Happy sewing everyone!

And the winners of the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 6 Giveaway are...

Drumroll please... The winner of the magazine is Denise, who said: Yeah, I think number three is the lie, but it's iffy! Very cute block -- you did a great job with it! :) And the winner of the pattern is Mary Jane, who said. I would guess you prefer gardening with fabric and not necessarily dirt, but I am only guessing. I like this block. Both guessed Option #3, which is correct! I majored in Industrial Design (which I actually didn't ever use, since my first job was in multimedia and I migrated into graphics), so I did work in a woodshop for 2 years, miraculously refraining from injuring myself using the tools there. HOWEVER (you knew this was coming, didn't you?), it was during that time that I actually impaled myself cutting into a bagel with a plastic bagel knife - so severely that I had to get stitches. #3 as the lie and it is a whopper! I have no gardening plans in my past or future since I can virtually kill any plant just by looking at it. I just enjoy looking at the gardens of others. I also wanted to apologize for not answering comments directly this week. I am absolutely swamped with work since I have a fabric collection going out and also have only 5 more days with the Bernina 780. I'll be better in December... and will have more giveaways then too... promise. And I'll show some more sneak peeks of Holiday Bouquet as well. Happy sewing! Amanda

Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Volume 6

Well it is that time again.  Quiltmaker has put out another issue in their 100 Blocks series - Volume 6.  These magazines are so fun!  Can you guess which is mine?

Well, here is a hint.  I've had a thing for aqua and blue Christmas designs lately.  Yes, mine is the white-on-aqua snowflake in the second row.  It is on page 42 and is called "Winter's Jewel."

I enjoyed making this.  The applique and piecing are really simple but, because of the color choices, they look bold.  I used some fabrics from Laurie Wisbrun's Brrr collection and also some neutrals by Patrick Lose, both of which are manufactured by Robert Kaufman.

Winter's Jewel can be arranged in many ways.

Quilt 1 - no border

Quilt 2 - on point with white border
Snowflake Runner or Wall Hanging

Quiltmaker is giving away a free copy of the magazine to a reader here! To enter leave a comment telling me which of these statements is a lie:
  1. I worked in a wood shop for 2 years.
  2. I once had to get stitches because I impaled myself with a plastic bagel knife.
  3. I am an avid gardener.
Winners will be chosen from posts with the right answer using the random number generator.  First prize will get the magazine and second will get a free copy of one of my new patterns, either Palace Doors, Fizz, Sunflower Row, or Harlequin.

Deadline to enter is midnight on Friday, November 9th.

Be sure to check out all the other blocks and enter to win more giveaways on Quiltmaker's blog!

Happy sewing!

Busy

Oh my goodness!  After market has been a busy time here and my family is just putting up with me and my messes, which have covered the first floor of the house.

First, the patterns arrived from the printer so there was packing and shipping to do.  (All market orders and distributor orders have now shipped, so you will see them popping up in the next few days.  Look on the sidebar of my blog for shops that carry my patterns and if you are shop that would like to be added to the list please email me.  If you place orders through a distributor, I don't always know to add your name.)

And see those big Bernina boxes in the background?  I picked up the Bernina 780 from Sew Much Fun and get two weeks to try all the new features.  Is it possible to be in love with a bobbin case?  I do - I do - I LOVE this bobbin case.  It sews so smoothly and is impossible to thread the wrong way, even for me!

Two weeks is just not long enough with this machine.  I get to try all the new software too - DesignWorks Suite includes CutWork, Crystalwork, and PaintWork!  I'll be talking about that here and on We All Sew in late December.

And on top of that there is a new collection to finalize and I just received strike offs from Blend Fabrics for my new Christmas collection - Holiday Bouquet.  It will ship in spring.  I hope you like it.  The ornaments will be so fun to applique!

Hope everyone is enjoying their sewing time and getting lots of it!
